Privacy Policy

Andy Chung built the Teleprompter App as a Freemium app. This SERVICE is provided by Andy Chung and is intended for use as is.

This page is used to inform visitors about my policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information for anyone who decides to use my Service.

If you choose to use my Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that I collect is used for providing and improving the Service. I will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms of Use, unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect and How We Use It

Information Stored on Your Device

Most of your content stays on your device. The scripts you create, your recordings, your fonts and theme preferences, and your app settings are stored locally and are not transmitted to me or any third party unless you explicitly choose to share them or enable iCloud sync (see “Apple iCloud” below).

Information Sent to Third-Party Services

The Teleprompter App uses the following third-party services. Each service receives only the specific data described below.

AI Script Generation Providers

When you use the in-app AI features (AI Script Writing and AI Polish), the text you enter — your topic, keywords, tone selections, and any existing script content you choose to polish — is sent to one of the following third-party AI providers in order to generate or refine a script for you:

  • DeepSeek (https://www.deepseek.com) — used when the app detects that you are in the People’s Republic of China.
  • OpenRouter (https://openrouter.ai) — used for users in all other regions. OpenRouter routes the request to a large language model on its platform.

Your explicit opt-in is required. Before any text is sent to either provider, the app displays a consent dialog naming the provider that will receive your data. No prompt is transmitted until you tap “Allow”. You can revoke consent at any time in Settings → AI Data Sharing; once revoked, the app will prompt you again before any subsequent AI request.

The data is used solely to generate the response you requested. We do not send your name, email, device identifiers, location, or any other personally identifying information alongside the prompt. Please refer to the providers’ own privacy policies for details on their handling of the request.

Apple Services

  • Apple StoreKit — handles all in-app purchases and subscriptions. Payment information is processed by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy; I never see your card details or Apple ID.
  • Apple iCloud (CloudKit) — if you sign in to iCloud and enable cloud sync, your scripts and folders are stored in your private Apple iCloud container so they can sync between your devices. This data is encrypted and is accessible only by you through your own iCloud account.

Firebase Analytics (by Google)

The app uses Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data — for example, how often the AI Script feature is opened, which screens are viewed, and whether the paywall is dismissed or purchased. This data helps me understand how the app is used and improve it. Firebase may collect technical identifiers such as device model, OS version, and an instance identifier. It does not receive the content of your scripts or your AI prompts.

You can opt out of Firebase Analytics on a system level by using Apple’s “Limit Ad Tracking” and related privacy controls.

Log Data

In the case of an error in the app, technical log data may be collected. This Log Data may include information such as your device’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app at the time of the error, and the date and time. It is used solely to diagnose the issue.

Cookies

The mobile app itself does not use cookies. The third-party services listed above may use their own technologies to maintain a session, which is outside of my control.

Children’s Privacy

This Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided me with personal information, please contact me so that I can take the necessary actions.

Security

I value your trust in providing your information, and I use commercially reasonable means to protect it. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and I cannot guarantee absolute security.

This Service may contain links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. These external sites are not operated by me, and I strongly advise you to review their own privacy policies. I have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Your Choices

  • AI Data Sharing — toggle on or off at any time in Settings → AI Data Sharing.
  • iCloud Sync — turn off in the app’s cloud settings or in iOS Settings.
  • Subscription — manage or cancel at any time in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
  • Account / Data Deletion — because the app does not require an account, deleting the app from your device deletes all locally stored data. To remove cloud-synced content, sign in to iCloud and delete the Teleprompter App data, or contact me at the email below.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. Changes will be reflected by updating the effective date below.
